Napoleonics & Waterloo

I don't really "do" Napoleonics, but I think this is an interesting project.  To mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, a group is putting together a team of horsemen to depict the Scot's Greys and will perform a reenactment of the battle.  They are collecting money because it costs about $12,000.00 per horse to get one fully equipped and ready for the event.

I think living history events help to bring history closer to people who may not otherwise have much interest in it.  I think it also helps with our understanding of how things functioned in historical times.  It's one think to hold an ancient sword or antique firearm, it's another to actually practice with it under simulated battlefield conditions.
