The Mobile Infantry Wants You!

Rocket Scientists Shoot Down Mosquitoes With Lasers - WSJ.com

I read this article and determined this was the best thing since miniature wargaming was invented. Imagine your Roco Minitanks size M-42 Duster packing twin 40mm size lasers! Then using them to shoot down real mosquitoes in your back yard. How cool is that? Forget the bug zapper, I want a battalion of these bad boys asap.

This is like playing Starship Troopers for real, in miniature. These scientists are trying to find a way to kill mosquitoes without using poisons and without killing other "friendly" insects like Lady Bugs that are actually beneficial. They came up with a laser that can identify a mosquito and zap it to death across the room. They can even determine if it is male or female because the male ones are not harmful to humans.

This could lead to whole leagues of people playing miniature wargames against mosquitoes. They even talk about having small flying robots with lasers that can fly around your home or village and protect everyone from mosquitoes. Imagine sending out waves of fighters to defend your miniature town from mosquito invasion. This could be better than paint balls!
