Imex Korean War Figures

I have been working on my US Army Korean War Infantry Regiment. These are the Imex 1/72nd scale Korean War US Army and South Korean Army figures. There is no real difference between the sets and they both work just fine for US Army troops.

Each soldier has to be trimmed off the sprue and then what little flash there is must be cut off and the base smoothed down where the little tab is from the sprue. So far I have done about 1,500 of them. Many of the troops are multiple parts and so I have been gluing them together too. The radio man in the foreground has a separate antenna to his radio.

For some unknown reason they give you a Bren gunner in the US Army set and I have cut off the magazine, and added a bit of ammunition belt and ammo box to make him into a .30 M1919A6 light machine gunner. The set does not include one of those and it was widely used in Korea. The other missing weapon is a BAR. I took the prone BAR gunner from the Easy Company American set and replaced his head from one of the Korean War set figures. It gives the BAR gunner a helmet cover rather than a netted helmet. Helmet netting was not really used in the Korean War.

This running man on the right is from the Korean War US Army set and on the left his rifle and right arm have been replaced with the Thompson Sub Machine Gun from the Easy Company American set. This gives my Korean War Army a Thompson gunner that is not seated.

These are great sets and with a few easy conversions I have been able to increase the variety of my collection and to fill in a few gaps in their TO&E. These will also be used for my Cold War games and also 1950's sci fi combat.
