When Mrs. Bunkermeister and I went on our honeymoon, we went to Berlin, Germany. We wanted to visit some of the places that were important in the Second World War.
One of the many places we visited was the flak towers. The Germans built three flak towers in the city to protect the civilian population, provide a base for flak guns, and coordinate the civil defenses of the city.
The remains of the flak tower show massive damage that they took during the defense of Berlin. Despite the attacks, no penetrations of the thick concrete occured.
My model flak tower is much more accurate because I was able to visit the real flak tower. The texture, the color, the size and shape of the tower is better as a result of my visit there. When you can visit real sites and walk the ground, see what the historical figures saw, you get a better idea of what happened.
