Remember the Alamo?

I was working on a project and realized that Imex makes 8 Alamo related items.

One of the best 1/72nd scale soft plastic figure sets ever, is the Alamo Defenders. They include Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, William Travis, and even Sam Huston. They also make Mexican Infantry, Round Hat Infantry, Cavalry, Round Hat Cavalry, and Mexican Artillery. Their large playset included a really nice cardboard color printed Alamo Chapel. They also have an Alamo / Southwest Accessories set.

Those accessories are a great set. It includes two flagpoles, a chopping block, scrub brush, and loads of cacti. Combining all these sets allows a pretty good start on creating a nice Alamo set up. A few other additions from Imex will really help your Alamo. The Pioneers set has women and men who can make up some of the civilians both at the Alamo and from the local town. There were about two dozen women and children inside the Alamo for much of the siege. There were also a couple of slaves. The pigs and cattle are also excellent and the Alamo had many cattle.

The Pilgrims set has more women and a nice large pot that would work for Alamo cooking accessories. The turkeys and goats are good for additional livestock. The Pilgrims also have several children that can be combined with the children from the Pioneers set.

There were at least 18 cannon on the Texas side, so you gotta get enough guns for them too. I think I will probably use a mixture of Imex Confederate Civil War Artillery, and Texans as my Texans gun crews. I anticipate a few head swaps to make the Confederates look more Texan.

I don't think there is any battle with only 200 people on one side that has such great coverage as the Alamo.

The same sets of figures can be used to play other battles from the Texas War of Independence, including Goliad and San Jacinto. So there is a lot of play value in these sets. There are many of them staffing my Bunker.
